Took this back in Oct. of '05 had several shots but only submitted one...anyways I decided to go in and experiment. I never alter my pics above the normal....I will use like most of you the contrast, auto levels etc. etc. but, I have never altered or played with the hues to change my pics. To be quite honest I am a black&white kind of thinker I tend to follow the rules and never think outside of my box. Not because I haven't wanted to just I tend to stick with what nature presents to me. I am also the same with rules give me them and I will never deviate I have no earthly clue why I am like that. Yes, I know I am weird Anyways, I was encouraged after seeing *1bgpaynes' picture ...A Different Color to give it a try and see what I could do. So here it is the only thing changed was the background in the original it was green.

This is stunning! The name is very apt!
I think you were right to make the background blue - it really brings out the "diamonds". It's a wonderful composition, has very good detail, it draws the eye very nicely.
I really like this one!

now THAT'S what i'm talking about!!
BEAUTIFUL shot!! And just because you altered it a bit, doesnt mean that its not
still photography. you havent really changed anything important in the picture
that destroys the focus of the picture.
awesome.
my opinion on photography and manipulating is this: i always do auto fix of the levels and colours and such. i try to not do too much to change the actual photo itself.
but you have to remember, a lot of things that you can do in photoshop, you can do in the darkroom too...
See I have no clue about darkroom photography....I really should have paid attention to my dad. When I was a teenager he was taking photography classes and had set up a darkroom of sorts anyways typical teen ignores the parents

Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
